With all energy efficiency program designs, the company makes changes to consumption and then calculates savings. Deemed savings estimates allow for engineers to make comparisons between equipment that was previously installed and estimate lifetime savings for new equipment. Whole building modeling gives programs the opportunity to do non-intrusive monitoring to look at the facility from a holistic view. One of the major benefits of using whole building approaches with utility data is the ability to monitor and influence savings persistence at the facility level. Power TakeOff is monitoring all past participant’s consumption data for signs that their savings are not persisting. Here at Power TakeOff, we believe in our mission, and we believe that our savings can last forever with our program model. We aren’t making assumptions: we can prove it.

We don’t have to assume that participants keep their energy efficient equipment installed. We monitor all of our previous participants to identify if they are no longer saving energy after our intervention. Because we use utility data for our program, we are able to quickly step in and help them get back on track.
